BROWN ALGAE - RAW MATERIAL FROM THE SEA
New, revolutionary organic material made from brown algae and PLA. Another contribution to the use of sustainable materials.
The occurrence of brown algae (Sargassum) in the oceans has now become a major problem. Floating in the water, these carpets of algae block the light and thus endanger the lives of many Sea creatures. Tons of sargassum wash up on many beaches and release toxic gases as they break down. We use this biomass as a raw material: in the new Ritter ALGO-PEN®. Bio-based PLA forms the basis for this new development. With an addition of 20% brown algae, we use this new material to produce the ALGO-PEN® – the first ballpoint pen “born in the ocean”.
